BIORACER:

In 1986, Raymound Vanstraelen founded Bioracer with a clear purpose to measure and study the athlete in motion in order to optimise cycling performance. While our business has grown from Raymond's home to factories, research facilities and offices on three continents, our mission remains steadfast and signifies the meaning of our name and the heart of our promise to make you faster.

We are a company of riders and racers, designers and innovators, craftspeople and seamstresses. We engineer apparel and test it in ourProtolab for its ability to battle cold and regulate heat. We analyse the cyclist in motion to ensure fabric, design and construction deliver anatomic fit with optimal comfort. We monitor wind-tunnel data and real-world racing to discover new ways to cheat the wind.

But mostly, we find truth on the climbs, in the mud, in the crosswinds, over the cobbles and in every metre of riding from the start line to the finish line. Learning from thousands of racers and races; thousands of medals and podiums, and thousands of club, Olympic and World Championship races. With over a hundred years of Belgium cycling history woven into every stitch and every pattern, it is our mission and honour to make you faster. And bring the same performance products worn by the best athletes in the world to every cyclist, every day.

WCUP Sports Nutrition

WCUP Sports Nutrition is a Belgian brand known for scientifically formulated sports nutrition products designed for use before, during, and after training or competition. Since its founding in 1994, WCUP has established a solid reputation among athletes at both national and international levels.

Mission

WCUP's mission has remained consistent since its inception: to develop products that enhance athletic performance by meeting athletes’ core nutritional needs-focusing on preparation, performance, and recovery. They guarantee that all WCUP products are free from banned substances, ensuring safe usage without any risk of positive doping tests.

The Beginning

WCUP's first product targeted the common issue of muscle acidification. Intense exercise leads to lactic acid buildup in muscles, causing soreness and fatigue. While the body has a natural system to balance this acidity, recovery can take up to 72 hours, longer than most athletes can afford. To address this, WCUP developed a sports drink with a neutral pH (7.2), which helps neutralize acids, thereby avoiding the stomach discomfort often associated with acidic sports drinks.

The drink's effectiveness was recognised early on when José De Cauwer introduced it to the Tour de France in 1994. Positive feedback highlighted the reduced muscle heaviness, although taste adjustments followed to improve palatability. WCUP's product line has since expanded to include energy drinks, bars, gels, recovery drinks, proteins, and supplements.

Recent Developments

In May 2017, the Veldeman brothers, passionate triathletes and business owners from Dendermonde, took over WCUP Sports Nutrition, injecting new energy into the brand. The company headquarters is located in Dendermonde's Bosveld district.
