Good equipment is essential at Roc du Maroc.
Make sure your bike is in perfect condition condition before departure. The tough conditions and rough slopes call for reliability, sturdiness and thorough preparation.

โœ… Before departure - Check and replace where necessary

  • ๐Ÿ”ง General bicycle control - leave your bike professional checking before departure.

  • ๐Ÿ” Replacing parts that are worn or damaged.

  • ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ Tyres - Check for wear, cracks and pressure.

  • ๐Ÿ›ž Wheel set - check for play and damage.

  • โ›“๏ธ Wear parts - chain, sprockets and cassette.

  • ๐Ÿ›‘ Braking system - brake pads and braking power.

  • โš™๏ธ Bearings - bottom bracket, headset and wheels.

  • ๐Ÿ”‹ Batteries - GPS, bike computer and heart rate monitor.

๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ Material tips

  • Choose a sturdy mountain bike that can take a beating.

  • A good front suspension reduces the strain on your back.

  • A full-suspension offers the most comfort and control on rough terrain.

  • Mount tyres with coarse tread, sturdy sidewalls and good grip.

    • โœ… Recommended: Vittoria Mezcal 2.25

  • Tubeless tyres are highly recommended: less risk of punctures, lighter, lower rolling resistance and better grip. (Stan's No Tubes)

  • Provide a correct sitting posture so that distances to 85 km per day stay comfortable.

  • When in doubt, always opt for reliability over lightweight.

  • Saddle bag with inner tube, tyre repair kit and pump (COโ‚‚ cartridges are not allowed on the plane)

  • Multitool & chain tool

  • Spare spokes

  • Additional inner tubes

  • 1 set of outer tyres (Vittoria Mezcal)

  • Extra chain + chain links to suit your MTB

  • Rear derailleur

  • COโ‚‚ patterns (in bike box, not in hand luggage)

  • Small bottle of latex (โ€œmilkโ€) for tubeless tyres

  • Water bottles + Camelbak - min. 4 litres per person

  • Front and rear bicycle lights

  • Spare torch


โšก๏ธ E-Bikes - More than welcome!

E-bikes are allowed and highly suitable For Roc du Maroc.

  • ๐Ÿ”‹ Provide at least one additional battery.

  • โšก There are sufficient charging points present in the bivouac.

  • ๐Ÿ”Œ Fully charged batteries can be passed along with the checkpoint managers.
